StockTrader 5.0 not detecting .net framework 4.0

I faced this problem of StockTrader 5.0 setup not detecting .net 4.0 installation on the server where I wanted to get SoftwareTrader installed. The mistake I committed was, I installed dotNetFX40_Client_x86_x64.exe instead of the full version. Just to ensure that others don't face a similar issue, I have listed out the exact steps to be followed so that the initial trouble I faced can be avoided.

1) Download StockTrader 5.0 and save it at adesired location.

2) Download dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exefrom Microsoft website. Remember you need to make not of the name verycarefully.

3) Download windowsimaging component from here if you are installing stocktrader on a Windows 2003 machine of Windows XP machine. .

4) Now you can run StockTrader 5.0 setup.

Action Account

Agent

The component that is installed on a Windows-based computer that performs management. The agent collects data, compares sampled data to predefined values, creates alerts, and runs responses.

Agentless Exception Monitoring (AEM)

A feature in Operations Manager that allows the collection of client application crash data to a single location on a management server, resulting in data that can then be analyzed by your company for patterns. In addition, the Management Server can forward the AEM data to Microsoft for analysis rather than having each individual client forward the data.

Agentless-managed computer

A computer without an agent that is monitored by a management server or a proxy agent.

Agent-managed computer

A computer that has an agent installed on it and that reports to a management group.

Alert

Reporting data warehouse

An Operations Manager 2007 component that manages the OperationsManagerDW database and that can be independently installed.

Resolution state

The state of an alert in relation to its status in the resolution cycle, and includes default resolution states such as New, Acknowledged, and Resolved.

Root management server

The first management server installed for a management group that performs unique functions in the management group. Specifically, it hosts the SDK and Config services and is the target server that all consoles attach to.

Rule

Issue:

Jobs configured to run under Task Scheduler and using a domain account fails.

Observation:

1) The task is configured to run under a domain account.
2) Its running on a Windows 2008 R2 server.
3) Domain account password has not expired.
4) The same account is not locked out.

Cause:

There is a policy configured in the domain. The policy name is, "Network Access: Do not Allow Storage of password and Credentials of Authentication" under local system security policy.

Resolution:

1) Change this policy to disabled state on the local server and solve this issue temporarily.
2) To fix it permanently ensure that this policy is set to disabled at domain level or at OU level based on your need.

Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS), formerly known as Active Directory Directory Services, is the central location for configuration information, authentication requests, and information about all of the objects that are stored within your forest. Using Active Directory, you can efficiently manage users, computers, groups, printers, applications, and other directory-enabled objects from one secure, centralized location.

Auditing. Changes made to Active Directory objects can be recorded so that you know what was changed on the object, as well as the previous and current values for the changed attributes.
Fine-Grained Passwords. Password policies can be configured for distinct groups within the domain. No longer does every account have to use the same password policy within the domain.
Read-Only Domain Controller. A domain controller with a read-only version of the Active Directory database can be deployed in environments where the security of the domain controller cannot be guaranteed, such as branch offices where the physical security of the domain controller is in question, or domain controllers that host additional roles, requiring other users to log on and maintain the server. The use of Read-Only Domain Controllers (RODCs) prevents changes made at branch locations from potentially polluting or corrupting your AD forest via replication. RODCs also eliminate the need to use a staging site for branch office domain controllers, or to send installation media and a domain administrator to the branch location.
Restartable Active Directory Domain Services. Active Directory Domain Services can be stopped and maintained. Rebooting the domain controller and restarting it in Directory Services Restore Mode is not required for most maintenance functions. 1) Download PSEXEC utility from website.
2) Extact it in one of the drives.
3) Open the command prompt (remember to open it in admin mode in Windows 2008).
4) Change the directory location in the command prompt window to the location where you extracted psexec utility.
5) Run psexec -s cmd.exe at the command prompt.
6) Then run "net use z: \servername\sharedfolder /persistent:yes".

What You Need to Do: To ensure protection evolve with today’s threats and mitigate risks, organizations can use the SIR to completely assess their environment (For example, In U.S. and U.K,Trojans account for the largest single category of threats in the U.S. and UK at 46.2% and 44.7% respectively; In Brazil, Malware that targets users of online banks continues to be widespread, accounting for 49.1% of attacks; In Spain and Korea. Worms represent the most dominant attack method; Win32/Taterf is the most prolific worm for both regions) and apply the best solution for their security and privacy needs. For the first time, the report provides insight into best practices from countries that consistently exhibit infection rates well below the worldwide average. Community Based Defense emerges as a Global Best Practice.

One of the reasons Japan’s infection rates remain relatively low is due in large part to collaborations like the Cyber Clean Center, a cooperative project between ISPs, major security vendors and Japanese government agencies to educate users.
Austria has implemented strict IT Enforcement guidelines and lowered piracy rates, and this along with strong ISP relationships and fast Internet lines, which aid in security update deployment, has helped ensure its generally low infection rate.
Germany has also leveraged collaboration efforts with its CERT and ISP communities to help identify and raise awareness of botnet infections and, in some cases, quarantine infected computers.

Some of the proactive steps Microsoft recommends for enterprises include:

Ensure that all third-party applications are being updated regularly by the vendor; check the vendors’ Web sites to determine whether any updates have been released and whether you need to apply them to your computers.
Use the Microsoft Security Assessment Tool (MSAT) to help assess weaknesses in their IT security environment and build a plan to address the risks.
Review the Strategies, Mitigations and Countermeasures in SIRv7 and apply what is relevant in your environment.
Ensure that your development team is using the Security Development Lifecycle or a similar software security assurance process.
Understand the Microsoft Security Update process and terminology. The newly released Microsoft Security Update Guide, available from the Microsoft Download Center, will help you understand the security update release process and all of Microsoft’s supporting resources.
